Public services affect our day-to-day lives in many ways; from the collection of refuse to community regeneration, and the protection provided by the emergency services and the health service.

Why public services at USW?

Taught by leading experts

Staff have years of experience in delivering awards for the public sector, all of whom have a strong research profile in the field. Our students benefit from a range of guest speaker events, including from police forces, equality organisations and local government.

Real world experience

Looking at issues of power and decision-making, you’ll investigate how decisions come about, who makes them and what difference they make in the real world. Social Policy students have access to the Global Choices Series, featuring high profile guest speakers including Sir John Major.

Professional Development

Students have the opportunity to undertake a 10-week internship during the second year of the degree and can study for up to a year in Europe or the USA to get an international perspective and a CV boost.
