Chris Tombs has 17 years experience working in professional sport and recently made the
career transition into HE and teaching.
"I really see the parallels of teaching
and coaching and have a wealth of industry experience and expertise to draw
upon and share with the next generation of Coaches. I am also embarking
on some research, focusing on coach health and wellbeing."
Chris has worked in both professional rugby with the Leicester
Tigers and Cardiff Blues and has won 2 major trophies whilst at the Cardiff
Blues. Some of Wales's most notable players of the modern era were in the
cohort of academy players that he trained at USW back in 2004-2007; Sam
Warburton, Jamie Roberts and Leigh Halfpenny to name a few. Chris has also travelled
to the USA to work in elite rugby, and professional cricket on his return to the
UK, where in 2016, the team he worked for won the T20 national title.
