Our annual Nursing and Midwifery Student Awards recognise the students that have demonstrated the skills and qualities that mark them out as exceptional nurses or midwives of the future. The winners will be announced at a ceremony held on Tuesday, July 3.
Here are the nominations for Student Ambassador of the Year
Daryl Richards, Adult Nursing
Friendly, funny and happy, Daryl is a familiar face at our Open Days, and has represented the University at Welsh Government conferences, health board events and the Florence Nightingale ceremony. He is extremely hard working and professional and has the skills that will make him an extremely good qualified nurse.
Ava John, Child Nursing
Ava is an enthusiastic, hard-working ambassador who is always happy to help. She has a wonderfully calming nature, which is extremely valuable for a paediatric nurse, and possesses excellent communication skills. Ava also works the interview days, chatting to applicants and putting them at ease.
Peter Griffiths, Adult Nursing
Pete is the consummate professional – reliable, capable, unflappable and with a great sense of humour – which is put to good use in the Student Life talk at the Open Day! Nothing is too much trouble and he has that special ability to talk to people of all ages and background and gain their trust.
Catherine Blyth, Adult Nursing
Always smiling, even after a night shift, Cath is professional in all that she does. She will always go the extra mile to help and is quick to identify how we can make improvements and suggest ideas. Her passion and commitment for nursing shines through in everything she does.
Emily Hartrey, Midwifery
Emily is a wonderful ambassador for Midwifery. Her mature, composed and capable nature quickly gains people’s trust. She is efficient, reliable and goes out of her way to help – a great ambassador!
Jenna Lewis, Adult Nursing
Jenna works at our interview days where her energy, enthusiasm and down to earth nature help to make a very busy day run smoothly. Extremely hard working and capable, Jenna is a born organiser and communicator. She will make an excellent nurse when she qualifies this year.
Sophie Prosser, Learning Disabilities Nursing
Sophie is another familiar face at our Open Days and presents the popular Student Life talk along with Pete. A true ambassador for nursing, particularly her field of learning disability, Sophie is confident, organised and dedicated.
