Module: Creatively Teaching Physical Education, Health and Wellbeing

The Creatively Teaching Physical Education, Health and Wellbeing module, offered as part of the Sports Coaching and Development course, is one of our most popular modules.

Why study this module?

This module looks at the the role of the PE teacher and sports coach within primary and secondary education and examines the key issues facing the physical education sector.

You will learn about the new curriculum in Wales, as well as the issues affecting physical education in the rest of the UK, and the factors that impact on and limit young people’s participation in PE and school sport.

Develop your own project

As part of the module, which is supported by the Caerphilly Healthy Schools Initiative and PE Direct, you will work in groups to create a project which develops subject knowledge, cross-curricular skills and health and wellbeing in young people.

Groups pitch their ideas to Caerphilly Healthy Schools Initiative, who select one scheme to be delivered in a local primary school.

"The idea that one of the schemes could be delivered in a primary school is a great incentive for students,” says Chris Emsley, module leader. "It’s a great achievement to have on your CV."
