Michael Necrews-Morgan from Swansea is studying the child nursing degree.
"My brother was in involved in an accident which resulted in a severe brain injury. His immediate recovery took place in two hospitals over the course of eight weeks.
"Watching how the nurses cared for him alongside all their other patients, made me realise what amazing people they were, and what it must be like to have a job like theirs.
"My brother made a full recovery and my family will always be grateful to the nurses who looked after him.
"Five years, lots of research and a few Open Days later, I decided that I too wanted to become a children’s nurse. People don’t expect boys to want to study nursing, but I was not going to let this prejudice stop me!
"My first year has been great! I have just finished a placement with a health visiting team. My mentor has nominated me for a student award for my handling of a difficult case. It’s been my proudest moment so far."
