USW maths research improves Nasa’s atmospheric models

Maths research conducted at USW has improved the accuracy and stability of NASA’s GEOS-5 global atmospheric model used by weather and climate centres around the world.

Maths research conducted at USW has improved the accuracy and stability of NASA’s GEOS-5 global atmospheric model used by weather and climate centres around the world.

Global climate modelling systems are used for weather forecasting and climate prediction essential for e.g. transport, agriculture and emergency services, as well as policy decisions on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Improving these models will help improve the accuracy of the weather and climate forecasts made, benefitting society, the environment, and the economy.
