At USW, setting students up for future employment is at the heart of what we do. As part of this, our Business students have the option to complete a 10-week internship during their second year of study.
Students get the opportunity to engage with real businesses or undertake a live business case through the business clinic. Both options enhance the skills which employers are seeking from business graduates such as communication, analytical, creative and problem-solving skills.
Our partnership with the Commonwealth Games Wales is a fantastic example of this and has allowed us to offer exciting and unique opportunities to our students including graduate, Laura Davies, who says:
“I learnt so many great things. Not only working on a national event such as the Queens Baton Relay where I got to enhance my events management skills, but also in many different ways like public speaking which is something I struggled with in the past.
I really can’t thank Commonwealth Games Wales enough for the amazing experience that they gave me.”
Having the real-world experience also helps to bridge the understanding between theory and practice, giving graduates a well-rounded understanding of their subject area and preparing them for their careers.
Watch the video, which follows three of our business students on placement with the Commonwealth Games Wales and discover how they benefited from this opportunity.
