After spending time coaching players in America, graduate, Aaron Beamont, decided to start his own business ‘ABC Football’. Here he talks about that experience as well as other roles he has undertaken since graduating and his experience as a USW student.

“Part of my degree was spent in the USA, delivering on coach mentoring and player development programs, and was based in San Francisco Bay area. The experience was extremely rewarding and different to anything you might experience in the UK.

For the second part of my degree, I developed a business plan as part of my final assessment, and I decided to come home and set up my own business ‘ABC Football’. Other roles since graduating include, running Development Centres and offering Player/Coach Development Programmes with Halifax Town FC (U19 & U12), Women’s First Team Manager and U21’s Manager at Brighouse Sports FC.

My experience coaching with UK International Soccer was very beneficial. I had opportunities to travel across the US, meeting and coaching people from a variety of ages and backgrounds.  This then gave me the confidence to set up my own business back in the UK, which has been a fantastic success so far!

I chose this course because I was keen to develop my knowledge of the game, and to see how football was being developed in different countries. To travel the USA was an amazing experience and the biggest highlight of the degree. Coaching Football whilst Immersing yourself in a different culture is an amazing experience, and the perfect combination!

The knowledge & professionalism of the tutors on the course at USW was excellent. To gain coaching experience around highly qualified coaches, who were able to specifically identify areas of your coaching that required improvement was a great experience. The course was very ‘hands-on’ during the residentials, which I enjoyed because I learnt much more by practicing my coaching and receiving quality feedback/advice at the same time. A much better experience than being classroom based all the time. The course was well structured, the modules were relevant and helpful to your daily life as a coach. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in Coaching to take this course.”
