HEFCW Postgraduate STEMM Bursary 2019-20

Who is eligible for the postgraduate bursary?

To be eligible for the postgraduate bursary you need to meet all of the following:

  •  Be a Welsh domiciled or EU (non-UK) student
  • Enrol on an eligible full or part-time taught postgraduate Masters STEMM (Science, Technology, Education, Mathematics and Medicine) course at the University of South Wales, starting in September 2019 or February 2020.
  • Meet the eligibility criteria for funding for Postgraduate Master’s Finance from Student Finance Wales* (*Students over the age of 60 will be eligible to receive this postgraduate  bursary)
  • Remain enrolled for the duration of the course.  

 

What courses are eligible for the postgraduate bursary?

HEFCW (Higher Education Funding Council for Wales) have determined that the postgraduate bursary applies to full or part-time STEMM subject Master’s courses only.  The University has used HEFCW’s academic subject categories (ASCs 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6) to determine course eligibility: 1 Medicine and Dentistry; 2 subjects and professions allied to medicine; 3 Science; 4 Engineering and Technology; and 6 Mathematical Sciences, IT and Computing.

How much is the postgraduate bursary?

The postgraduate bursary is £2,000 for a full Master’s course.
