Many of our computing degrees are fully accredited by the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. Graduates of these courses meet the academic requirements to work towards Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status. MComp graduates also meet the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited computing degree is likely to be recognised in other countries.
We have a Digital Investigation Lab, which is a computer forensic facility typical of those used by law enforcement agencies. Our Games Development facility features the latest Intel hardware to provide extra high-powered gaming PCs. You’ll also find numerous dedicated computing suites, all with the latest software.
We consistently rate highly in the National Student Survey for our courses, showing our commitment to our students. We are also proud to be leaders in this area as we were the first University in Wales to gain GCHQ certification and the first CISCO Cyber Academy in Wales. USW has also been named Cyber University of the Year for two consecutive years at the National Cyber Awards 2020 and 2019.
Our Computing students love the warm and friendly atmosphere that we have at our Treforest campus as well as the convenience of living and studying in the same place. Cyber Security students will be based at our Newport campus. Right at the heart of the city, overlooking the River Usk, our campus couldn’t be in a better location to embrace city life.
