Education is an exciting and rewarding profession. If you are passionate about helping people learn and want practical study with a hands-on approach, this discipline could be right for you. From education theories to child development and behavioural challenges, education study at the University of South Wales will help you make a difference.
Our education courses have a practical approach. With work placements and clinics on campus, you’ll have every opportunity to gain skills, confidence and experience. If you are interested in teaching learners aged 16+ we offer two teacher training courses - PGCE and PgCE courses in post-compulsory education and training.
We offer a range of Education short courses for continued professional development opportunities. Additionally, if you have missed out on a B grade at GCSE for English Language and Mathematics, the University offers specific modules to give you the equivalent qualifications.
Work placements and teaching experience are embedded in our degrees to enhance your skills and reflect on how theory links to practice in an authentic learning situation. For example, a distinctive element of this Education degree is the opportunity to undertake a final four-week international placement in your final year of study.
At USW Newport, you will learn in an environment that fully prepares you for the world of work. There are spaces that recreate different learning spaces including classrooms, science laboratories and flexible learning spaces as well as technological resources including augmented and virtual reality.
If you missed out on a B grade at GCSE for English Language and Mathematics, we offer modules to give you the equivalent qualification to a B grade if you already have C grade GCSE English Language or Mathematics.
Whether you're a newly qualified teacher or are looking to enhance your skills, we offer a range of Education short courses for continued professional development opportunities.
From GCSE English Language and Mathematics equivalence modules to attain a B grade, to courses for practitioners who work in both mainstream and special schools to develop and raise the achievement of children and young people with SEN/ALN, there are lots of options to further your skills and specialise in a chosen area.
