The challenges brought by climate change and other environmental pressures threaten our natural environment and our health, economy, and infrastructure, but we need to provide workable solutions.
Our Environmental Science courses focus on tackling the challenges and solving the problems of climate change, renewable resources, environmental pollution, conservation for biodiversity and environmental management.
You will take your passion for the environment and make it into a career, learning the skills and knowledge required within the rapidly growing green economy, and priding yourself on the impact you make to local, national, and global environmental sustainability agendas.

Our degrees are organised into a series of themes, each of linking to the environment sector. These themes include climate change, renewable resources and energy, biodiversity and conservation, environmental pollution, sustainable development, and environmental management. Undergraduate Courses
This course is a future-focused and solution-based programme in environmental science and climate change. It will enable you to have a positive and transformational impact as you engage society, business and government in future solutions for environmental sustainable development. You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to follow a career in the rapidly growing green economy and environmental sector.
If you don't have the right subjects or grades to enrol directly onto our BSc (Hons) Environmental Science degree, this course offers an alternative route into degree study with an additional foundation year. This extra introductory year will give you the grounding you need to begin degree-level study.

MSc Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technology course will develop the cutting-edge multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills to enable you to develop a rewarding career in this fast-moving growth industry.
The world’s environments have long been threatened by human impact. As pressures on the natural environment intensify, there is a growing need for professionals skilled in conservation and environmental management.
FIELDWORK & PLACEMENTS
Get Hands-on
Do you have a passion for hands-on learning? The fieldwork opportunities available through the USW Environmental Sciences courses put you at the forefront of field-based learning.
Cardiff, the Brecon Beacons National Park, and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast are all nearby and provide a natural laboratory for study. We offer an impressive international portfolio of fieldwork too.
You will have opportunities to further develop your practical skills, understanding and application by participating in our residential field courses.
