Public Services Degrees
Leading Tomorrows
Public services affect our day-to-day lives in many ways; from the collection of refuse to community regeneration, and the protection provided by the emergency services and the health service.
Looking at issues of power and decision-making, you’ll investigate how decisions come about, who makes them and what difference they make in the real world. Both friendly and inclusive, we provide an environment that ensures students achieve the outcomes they deserve.

Taught by Leading Experts

Staff teaching public services at the University of South Wales have years of experience in delivering awards for the public sector, all of whom have a strong research profile in the field. Our students benefit from a range of guest speaker events, including from police forces, equality organisations and local government.
Real-world Experience

Looking at issues of power and decision-making, you’ll investigate how decisions come about, who makes them and what difference they make in the real world. Social Policy students have access to the Global Choices Series, featuring high profile guest speakers including Sir John Major and Lady Shami Chakrabarti.
Professional Development

The University has a long tradition of providing high quality healthcare management courses and has successfully delivered similar postgraduate programmes for over 20 years. Students have the opportunity to undertake a 10-week internship during the second year of the degree and can study for up to a year in Europe or the USA to get an international perspective and a CV boost.
PUBLIC SERVICES COURSES
Undergraduate Courses

On this public services course, you’ll explore how these services operate and the challenges they face in the 21st century, preparing you for a career in this important and diverse sector. You could get the chance to work with public sector organisations such as the NHS.

The Foundation Year in Public Services forms part of an integrated four-year degree programme, and is designed for students who do not currently meet the admissions criteria for direct entry onto a degree course in subjects including BA (Hons) Public Services.
Postgraduate Courses

During the MSc Health and Public Service Management, you will examine the challenges facing healthcare and related public service areas, making strong links between academic theory and management practice to create a relevant context. You will also specialise in a key area through your chosen dissertation topic.

A Masters by Research or PhD allows to make an in-depth study of a topic that’s of interest to you or your organisation. Study full-time or part-time, on campus or by distance.
