Social Work Degrees

Inspiring Tomorrows

Do you want to become a social worker?

To enter this challenging yet rewarding profession, you’ll need to gain a professional degree that gives you the relevant and up-to-date skills and knowledge demanded by this ever-changing role.

Social work is a profession focused on people - from babies to the elderly, where you work with individuals and families, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

To practice as a social worker, you need to have a degree in social work to register with a regulatory council in the UK.

Work Placements

Work Placements

Practical placements account for 50% of our social work degree, each in a different setting. This means you’ll not only be well prepared when you qualify, but you’ll also have a good idea of the sector in which you would like to work.  These block placements can often lead to employment opportunities when you graduate.

A social work degree is a professional qualification that allows you to become a practising social worker. Graduates can register as a social worker and enter a career that offers excellent opportunities for progression. Graduates from our Working with Children and Families degree can enter the workplace or pursue a postgraduate professional degree.

In Wales, there is a growing demand for social workers and work is widely available in a variety of roles and settings. Whether you want to work with older people, families, children or people with disabilities, you could build a professional career that offers immense job satisfaction.

The places you study and live make a big difference to what you get out of university. It’s important to be somewhere that feels like home, but can also surprise you. South Wales offers rich experiences, with Cardiff at the heart.

With campuses in and around Cardiff, you can experience the diversity that south Wales has to offer – the buzz of the cities, the beauty of the coast, and the calm of the countryside.

We have five campuses across three locations, but we’re one university. Every campus is open to you and whatever inspires you, you’re always welcome.
