Loop: Accessibility
Loop Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to Loop, the University’s online module and course evaluation system.
This website is run by the University of South Wales. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
- We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. You can see a full list of any issues we currently know about in the non-accessible content section of this statement.
- Some lists, headings and forms are not coded with correct structure, which can affect how screen readers announce content.
- Some form options that belong together are not grouped, so their relationship is unclear to assistive technology users.
- The Loop logo is missing meaningful alternative text.
- Some tables have unclear header associations.
- There are duplicate id values and HTML parsing/validation errors.
Alternative formats
We've designed our content to be as accessible as possible. However, if you experience barriers, you can request alternate formats.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The University of South Wales is committed to making this website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is currently being tested for conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some areas may not yet meet all success criteria. Testing for WCAG 2.2 Level AA has begun, and we are working toward full conformance.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
- Lists and headings are not correctly structured
Some pages use mis-nested HTML (for example, paragraphs inside lists or headings) and unclosed list elements, which can disrupt how screen readers announce content. This affects questionnaire/Likert blocks and some navigation lists. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A). - Related form options are not grouped
Radio buttons and checkboxes that belong together are not wrapped in a <fieldset> with a descriptive <legend>, so users may not hear the question context before the options. This occurs in several survey/rating blocks. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A). It also relates to WCAG 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions (Level A). - Images missing alternative text (logo)
The site logo is missing meaningful alternative text, so its purpose is not announced to screen reader users. This fails WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A). - Table headers are not reliably associated with their cells
Some tables use unnecessary or incorrect scope attributes, which can make header associations unclear for assistive technologies. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A). - Duplicate id attributes
Some templates reuse the same id value on multiple elements, which can confuse assistive technologies and scripts.
This fails WCAG 4.1.1 Parsing (Level A). (Note: 4.1.1 is removed in WCAG 2.2, but these robustness defects will still be fixed.)
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
If you find an issue that we have yet to identify, please contact us using one of the routes described in the ‘Reporting accessibility problems with this website’ section of this statement.
Ongoing improvements are made dynamically throughout the year following feedback from our ongoing audit processes and users.
Disproportionate burden
We are not claiming a disproportionate burden for our website.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
At this time, we have not identified any content that is not within scope of the accessibility regulations.
European Accessibility Act (EAA)
While this website is designed to meet the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, which require compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA, we are actively reviewing and updating our content and services in line with the European Accessibility Act (EAA), which comes into effect on 28 June 2025.
This website is partially compliant with technical standard EN 301 549 v.3.2.1. See Non-accessibility content for more details.
