USW is the place to work for people who are engaged and who care about our society. We create graduates who are prepared for tomorrow: people who are ready to build their careers and play their part in solving the challenges ahead.
We offer learning designed to reflect today’s student needs and tomorrow’s employer demands. Our courses are designed by the people who offer jobs to our graduates and taught by people who have real work experience.
If you value education in practice, not just in theory, then we want to hear from you. If you believe that by working together we can make tomorrow better, for our students, our communities and our partners, we’d love to hear from you.
We want to attract outstanding and talented people, support them to succeed, and celebrate their success. We invest in good ideas and in good people.
We offer a generous annual leave entitlement which aims to encourage a healthy work/life balance. Annual leave entitlement for positions graded A to D is 30 days and for positions graded E and above is 35 days. You’ll also receive up to 8 public bank holidays and additional paid leave if the University closes during certain times of the year. Leave entitlement is pro rata for part time/term time employees.
All employees have the opportunity to join an occupational pension scheme.
We’re serious without being stuffy and we welcome people who will thrive in our collaborative culture and will strive to make connections.
"My personal journey through education has led me to places that I never would have envisaged. From a 16-year-old kid with no confidence in my ability to learn, to being able to turn something I love into my career has been amazing. So many of the students on the courses I teach are coming to university in their thirties or older, with family lives and work to juggle alongside their education. I know how it feels to be in their shoes. The students bring with them work and life experience which is invaluable as they undertake their studies."
"I love the variety of my job. I get to do some teaching myself, I work closely with academic staff and researchers on all sorts of different aspects of the teaching and research activities of the University as well as professional services staff who provide the essential infrastructure for these activities and I am involved in the provision of a library service to everyone in the University. I really think it is the best job you can have in academia."
We create graduates who are prepared for tomorrow. People ready to build careers and play their part in solving the challenges ahead. As a University, we literally transform people’s lives and we're looking for employees who want to be a part of that.
