LGBTQ+ HISTORY MONTH

LGBTQ+ History Month is a month-long annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bi, trans and non-binary history, including the history of LGBTQ+ rights and related civil rights movements.

In the UK, LGBTQ+ History Month is celebrated in February each year to coincide with the 2003 abolition of Section 28. It was initiated in the UK by Schools Out UK in February 2005.

  • There are several sources of advice, information, and support for transgender staff and students - both from within USW and externally.

  • How can I help? Information and resources for both existing and prospective trans allies.

  • Some commonly used terms related to gender identity. Sometimes there is the misunderstanding that gender identity and sexual orientation are linked - we have tried to keep all terms here related to gender identity.

  • Our Trans Equality Policy Statement outlines our commitment to promoting equality on the basis of gender identity and gender expression.
