Centered on criminal justice and criminology, it blends legal expertise with a focus on criminal law and justice, preparing you for a career in the legal field. Offering a comprehensive LLB law degree, this program emphasises Criminal Justice and Criminology to equip you with the specialized knowledge and skills needed for success in the legal system.

Whether you are a mature learner, have relevant work experience but no formal qualifications, or simply don’t have the UCAS points that are required for the standard LLB, this could be the course for you. The foundation aspect attached to the LLB means that you can achieve your academic aspirations of studying law even though you may not come from the traditional academic background.

The course, which is conducted by leading academics, centres around seminars and lectures in which you critically evaluate legal issues such artificial intelligence and developments of law and policy arising from technology and associated emerging issues. Students from both the UK and further afield will be able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions.

This LLM degree is suitable for individuals already working in the legal sector, as well as those looking to increase their knowledge in this area. Outside of term time you will have the opportunity to volunteer in the University’s Legal Advice Clinic. There you will have the chance to put the knowledge and skills you have gained on the course into practice. The Clinic will allow you to engage directly with the legal profession, and work with a number of reputable law firms.

You can study aspects of commercial law that have international relevance and consider specific issues that arise in commercial and consumer law. You will also explore different aspects of globalisation and how the law influences and responds to these.

The LLM incorporates a programme of study and assessment approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which you must complete if you want to qualify as a solicitor. You will develop an in-depth understanding of business and property law, litigation and court procedure, and enhance your ability to engage in critical academic study and research by way of a research project, helping you to develop the professional and reflective skills necessary for practice.

From day one, you’ll solve real legal problems in our Legal Advice Clinic, while also preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). The practical skills and experience you develop mean you’ll be highly prized by law firms and will hit the ground running as a junior legal professional.

This Legal Practice Course is the programme of study and assessment approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which you must complete if you want to qualify as a solicitor. The LPC is a skills-based ‘learning by doing’ course that gives you the foundation to start a training contract in a law office. You will develop the skills of advocacy, interviewing, legal writing, drafting and research.

This course is a steppingstone for students who wish to embark on a PhD but who are not quite ready while building a solid foundation in the area. Students from both the UK and further afield will be able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions.

The LLM Professional Practice with a Solicitors Qualification Examination (SQE) pathway offers you the opportunity to prepare for SQE1, obtain an introduction to SQE2 legal skills and acquire some Qualifying Work Experience (QWE). In the process, you will gain an internationally recognised LLM qualification.
