Module Overview

Exempt from the technical accounting modules on the full variant of the Masters by virtue of their professional ACCA Qualification, students instead undertake our 60-credit ‘Dissertation: Accounting and Finance’ module.

The Dissertation module allows students to produce a substantial piece of research output on a topic of their choice and includes training in the key concepts of Research Methods.

Dissertation: Accounting and Finance
The Dissertation module incorporates Research Methods training, including an introduction to research output, selecting a topic, and conducting a literature review. Students will choose and implement a suitable methodology using primary or secondary data and undertake qualitative or quantitative analysis, before writing up and defending their research. This content is delivered at the start of the dissertation process, enabling students to apply theory in practice. Students then develop their research proposal and complete their project with guidance from a supervisor in group and one-to-one sessions.
