Film & TV School alumni triumph at the BAFTAs and British Animation Awards

Graduates from the Film & TV School Wales at USW are celebrating after working on films that have won multiple BAFTAs and British Animation Awards.

Sci-fi adventure movie Dune was the biggest winner at the BAFTAs last night (Sunday 13 March), picking up awards for Special Visual Effects, Sound, Original Score, Production Design and Cinematography.

Rosie Walker and Ben Brown – two graduates from USW’s Visual Effects and Motion Graphics degree – worked on the film, which was nominated in 11 categories. Rosie also worked on The Matrix Resurrections, which was up for Special Visual Effects.

Affairs of the Art, a Welsh animated short film produced by USW graduates and former staff, was a triple winner at the British Animation Awards (BAAs), collecting the titles of Best Short Film, Best Voice Performance and the Writers Award.

A total of 41 USW Animation and Film alumni were part of the teams nominated for Oscars, BAFTAs and BAAs, including:
