USW launches partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board to support staff development

The University of South Wales (USW) has launched a partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) to support staff development.

Historically, USW and CTMUHB have worked together in a range of areas, and this partnership will help both organisations to explore clinical and professional learning opportunities with the aim of developing a strategic alliance, promoting education, research and training, which further develops career pathways for employees in professional services roles.

The partnership will:

• Ensure USW and CTMUHB work together to promote learning opportunities for all staff;
• Provide easier access to Higher Education and Professional Development for career development to enhance workforce skills;
• Provide networking opportunities by developing an Industry through the Academic partnership;
• Provide access to research facilities;
• Provide access to funding opportunities through the USW Partnership and Engagement Programmes and the Intensive Learning Academy.

Dr Louise Bright, Director of Research and Business Engagement at USW, said: “Building relationships at the University of South Wales is a vital pillar in our 2030 strategy. We want to make an impact in the real world, and our partners help us do that.

“The work we’ve carried out with CTMUHB is just the beginning, and the doors are well and truly open in terms of exploring mutually beneficial collaboration in areas such as CPD, workforce transformation, and so much more. It will allow us to respond to the challenges faced by our health service by getting people together to highlight synergies and making creative space to explore those opportunities. The impact we already have in health is university wide, and we’ve seen a step change in the work we are able to deliver and this partnership will allow us to strengthen those ties.”

Hywel Daniel, Director for People at CTMUHB, added: “Our partnership with USW is a key one for us as a Health Board, and will continue to inspire our people across CTM to develop and progress through their careers. Our 14,000 plus people play a vital role across health and social care, and we must continually evolve and up-skill to develop the services that we provide to meet the needs of our population as we look to 2030 and beyond. I would encourage everyone to explore the fantastic development opportunities available at the University.”
