Dr Martin Wright, Visiting Fellow at the University of South Wales (USW) International Centre for Policing and Security, has received a commendation from Assistant Chief Constable, Wendy Gunney.

Based at South Wales Police, ACC Wendy Gunney is responsible for the All-Wales Collaboration, Counter Terrorism Policing Wales, and the Regional Organised Crime Unit, Tarian.

The award is in recognition of Dr Wright’s hard work and dedication in establishing the Virtual Volunteers programme at USW. Virtual Volunteers is a unique online environment, which has been designed, in collaboration with Tarian, so that USW staff and students can work on solutions to challenges faced by the police.

Dr Wright was presented with the award at the Tarian Recognition Ceremony, held at Margam Country Park, on 17 November. He said: “I’m both honoured and delighted to be recognised for an award by ACC Wendy Gunney. This could not have been achieved without the many contributions made by USW students.

“This has been a USW team effort and I want to recognise the kind support of Mike Saleh, Senior Work Placement Partner and Dr Rachel Taylor, Senior Lecturer of Psychology.”
