Module Overview

The Medical Education course will develop a critical knowledge and understanding, and application of medical education. On completion, graduates will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of specific issues at the forefront of theory and practice in medical education

The Practice of Medical Education
The aim of this module is to develop a critical understanding of the context of medical education in the broader profession of education which puts focus on patient care.

Assessment
The aim of this module is to develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of assessment in medical education.

Media
The aim of this module is to develop an in-depth understanding of how to incorporate a variety of digital programmes into medical education.

Leadership
The aim of this module is to develop an in depth understanding of the importance of effective leadership to help improve patient care.

How you’ll learn

You’ll do a combination of individual and group projects, and you’ll have a reflective practice portfolio to help you consider how what you’re learning on the course can be translated into everyday work and practice.

Once you have secured your place on the course, you will be invited to an Online Induction Day Webinar.

The medical education course puts assessment at the heart of learning by using clinical scenarios to facilitate problem-solving, critical analysis and evidence-based care. The scenarios act as both the focus for learning and assessment, embedding assessment within the learning process.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Typical qualification requirements:

To secure your place on the course, applicants will typically hold a first degree or equivalent (including international qualifications) in a relevant professional healthcare field, such as a medical or nursing degree.

Registered healthcare professionals without these recognised qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and a wide range of prior experience may be taken into account.

Additional requirements include:

In some cases, applicants may be asked to submit a piece of work for assessment in order to confirm that they are able to work comfortably at postgraduate level, and demonstrate the requisite clinical and professional knowledge.

International applications welcomed:

English language requirements

International applicants will need to have achieved an overall of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing or equivalent.

Whilst in most cases these resources are more than sufficient in supporting you with completing your course, additional costs, both obligatory and optional, may be required or requested for the likes of travel, memberships, experience days, stationery, printing, or equipment.
