Learning Analytics: Supporting your success
Learning Analytics helps you stay connected with your studies and make the most of your university experience. It provides insight into your engagement with learning activities, including attendance at lectures, tutorials and events.
Checking in through Learning Analytics helps the University understand student participation, support student success, and identify opportunities to provide additional guidance where needed.
Why should I check in?
Regular attendance is one of the most important contributors to academic success. By checking in to your teaching sessions, you can:
- Build positive study habits and stay engaged with your course.
- Keep track of your attendance and participation.
- Help the University understand how students are engaging with learning activities.
- Ensure that appropriate support can be offered when needed.
We encourage all students to check in to sessions where attendance monitoring is being used.
Who needs to use Learning Analytics?
Learning Analytics is used across the University to record attendance and support student engagement monitoring.
Most international students are required to check in to most or all timetabled teaching sessions. For more information, please see the University's guidance on see Tier 4/Student Route Attendance and Engagement Monitoring.
Many other students will also be asked to check in to lectures, tutorials and events. Your lecturer will let you know when attendance check-ins are required.
How it works
- At the start of each lecture, your lecturer will give you a six-digit code.
- Log in to Learning Analytics using your USW student email address.
- Input the six-digit code, and hit the 'Check-in' button.
- Your attendance at the lecture has now been logged.
