‘’The lecturers are really helpful and approachable.’’

Hi, I’m Crystal Jia Yee Foo from Malaysia. I was born in Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of the state of Sabah, East Malaysia. Kota Kinabalu is more popularly known as KK in Malaysia and internationally. I am pursuing a Master of Chiropractic and I am currently in year 3. I find that lectures are very challenging yet interesting at the same time. We cover a lot of human anatomy, physiology and pathology in order to have an in depth understanding of how a normal human would function. We visited the cadaver lab which was a true eye opener for us to see human bodies’ close-up. I never knew that this course would be so demanding yet it is definitely worth the effort with so much knowledge and education for me to achieve at the end of the year.

The lecturers are really helpful and approachable. They go into details with each and every lecture and even go the extra mile to provide as much information as possible in accordance with the slides. The library has ample facilities and useful resources. My course mates are encouraging and are always prepared to share their learning experiences.

I love having the opportunity to communicate with people from different countries.

What I really like about studying here is having the opportunity to communicate with people from different countries. It has been an eye opener for me to learn about the different food they eat, the different languages they speak and also secretly trying to guess where they’re from based on their accent. Living in Cardiff also allows me to travel around Europe during the holidays. I have learnt to be more independent and to be willing to step out my comfort zone. Living far away from home is not easy, but I grow with it. For example, I get to start managing my own financial expenses as well as learning how to plan my day to day schedule better.

Going to study overseas might sound scary to some, but I would highly recommend you to embrace change and enjoy the challenges that lie ahead. Chiropractic is a difficult course no doubt, but you get to help a lot of people with musculoskeletal problems once you graduate!
