MBA Global students pose at Newport Campus

MBA Global students at the University of South Wales have been putting their business acumen to the test with a partnership project that has seen them work with Geely, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer based in China.

The students worked in consultancy-style teams to address a live strategic challenge posed by the company, which produced nearly 1.5 million electric and plug-in hybrid cars last year.

The challenge-based assessment saw the students conduct academic and market analysis and present actionable recommendations, aiming to inform Geely’s future business decisions and add value to the rapidly evolving global industry.

MBA Global students have previously partnered with companies such as Principality Building Society, Confused.com and Barclays, providing them with unique opportunities to build confidence, sharpen their consultancy skills, and graduate with hands-on experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Dr Michael Parsons, module leader for the project, said: “MBA Global students aren't just learning business – they’re doing business. Working with clients like Geely brings relevance and credibility to our curriculum, inspiring our students to take ownership of meaningful, real-world outcomes.

“The project outcomes were showcased in a final presentation event, offering a stage for students to demonstrate their strategic thinking under pressure. This kind of high-impact, applied learning reflects the University’s commitment to global employability, practical challenge-based assessment, and industry engagement.”
