How I Embody “Give to Gain”
Throughout my career across India, Saudi Arabia, and the UK, “Give to Gain” has been a guiding principle that shapes how I teach, lead, and conduct research. As a Senior Lecturer and course leader for the Cert HE Nursing Support Worker programme, I take pride in nurturing healthcare support workers and nursing students who often begin with limited confidence but grow into capable, ambitious professionals. Watching many progress into band 6 and 7 nursing roles is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
My commitment to giving extends beyond the classroom. My research with families of young children in India focuses on strengthening resilience, helping communities prepare for the challenges of life and build a more secure future. In my church community, I mentor young people, especially girls, supporting their spiritual, psychological, and social development so they can thrive as well-rounded individuals.
Nurturing others is not just something I do; it is central to who I am. I stand on the shoulders of women who invested in me, particularly Carolyn Wallace and Michelle Thomas, whose mentorship has shaped my growth as a researcher. Their generosity inspires me to continue creating opportunities for others, knowing that every act of giving enriches us all.
