For me, Give to Gain is about slowing down enough to really notice the people around me, and choosing to show up with care, intention, and courage.

Much of my work at University of South Wales involves supporting women at moments when they may be struggling with a health issue, questioning their safety, their boundaries, or their worth. In those moments, giving isn’t always about having answers, it’s about listening, believing, and creating room for someone to be heard without fear or shame. I’ve learned that when women are supported in this way, confidence grows quietly but powerfully.

I’ve also come to recognise how deeply I’ve benefited from women who have offered me reassurance, challenged my self-doubt, and encouraged me to trust my voice. Their support has shaped how I now support others — with empathy, honesty, and a commitment to advocacy even when it feels uncomfortable.

What I hope this approach creates for women at USW is a culture where care is seen as strength, support is shared rather than scarce and giving to one another becomes a way we all gain — in confidence, connection, and the freedom to take up space.
