Change of Circumstances
All Tier 4 and Student visa holders
All Tier 4 and Student visa holders and their dependants need to report the following changes of circumstance to the Home Office as soon as possible:
- change of contact details such as change of address;
- any changes to personal details;
- criminal convictions;
- changes in your legal representative's details where applicable;
- changes in your family members' details, if they are in the UK as your dependants; and
- any other information that you think the Home Office should know.
If you are in the UK and do not have a BRP card
To report a change in address only, you will need to complete the online form.
For any other changes, you will need to complete the Migrant Change of Circumstances (MCC) form found on the GOV.UK Website.
Reporting these changes is a condition of your visa and failure to do so could negatively impact upon your immigration permission.
If you are in the UK and you have a BRP card
You must report changes to the Home Office using the Migrant Change of Circumstances form found on the Migrant Change of Circumstances (MCC) form found on the GOV.UK Website.
Please note that if you have made a visa application through IISA, you will need to complete the MCC form to update your address. This is because we give the University’s address as the correspondence address when we make your visa application and so this will become your permanent contact address in the Home Office records until amended.
Reporting these changes is a condition of your visa and failure to do so could negatively impact upon your immigration permission.
Interruption, Suspension and Withdrawal
Any change to your student status, such as interruption, suspension or withdrawal from your course, could affect your UK immigration status as a Tier 4 or Student Visa holder. The University is required to report any changes in your status to the UKVI and you may be required to leave the UK by UKVI as a result of the change in your status. You will receive notification from the University once you have been reported to UKVI with advice on what do to next.
If you intend to study at another institution you will need to obtain a new offer, Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies and a new visa for that institution before being allowed to start. If you have not completed your current course you will need to return home to make a new visa application and you new University will need provide you advice on how to make your next visa application.
Before you decide to withdraw or interrupt you should contact us to get advice regarding your specific situation and the impact that withdrawal or interruption will have on your UK immigration status.
