Blackboard is the university's virtual learning environment, and this is where you can access your course and module learning materials online.

If you are a returning student, you will find that the way you get around this new-look Blackboard is different, but your courses and modules will be staying the same on the inside. The guides and videos on this page are designed to help you get around the new-look Blackboard.

Getting started with Blackboard

You can access Blackboard from the links on Unilife and from the IT Services website. The direct website address for Blackboard is:

http://unilearn.southwales.ac.uk/ultra/institution-page

The latest versions of the following browsers are supported:

Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari.

If you have problems with your browser, you can visit the Advice Zone on each campus or contact the IT Helpdesk.

You can find the contact details of your module or course teaching team by selecting "Module"

Then "Module Teaching team" from the ‘Module Welcome’ section of the left-hand menu.

The Blackboard Portfolio tool can be used by anyone at any point to create a portfolio of work. It can also be used for assessments.

You can find the Portfolio tool from the main Blackboard menu by selecting “Tools".

Blackboard Portfolio has an in-built walk-through that teaches you how to set up and use the Portfolio. If you get stuck, you can re-launch the walk-through, or read the Blackboard guide to Portfolios.

Blackboard Portfolios are submitted to Blackboard Assignments. If you are asked to submit a Blackboard Portfolio for an assessment, you will create your portfolio in the Portfolio tool and then follow the instructions for submission given to you on your module.
