Terms and Conditions
University of South Wales Upgraded Offer Scheme
Terms and Conditions
- The University of South Wales (“University”) Upgraded Offer Scheme (“the Scheme”) enables the University to review applicants’ Conditional offers based on their predicted grades and their attendance at an Applicant Experience Day on either 28th February, 18th April or 9th May 2026 and upgrade their offer to Unconditional.
Eligibility - The Scheme is available to Home fee paying, UK based applicants only.
- To be eligible, applicants must have applied to study year 0 or year 1 of a full-time undergraduate eligible course (eligible courses are detailed in paragraph 8 below), be made a Conditional offer, and they must scan the applicable QR code to register their attendance at one of our Applicant Experience Days. Advanced entry (i.e., entry onto year 2 and 3) and one-year Top Up courses are excluded from this Scheme due to Recognition of Prior Learning requirements. Details for registering attendance at Applicant Experience Days will be set out in an e-mail confirming their registration for the event. Applicants who attended an Applicant Experience Day but did not register on the day by being scanned by a member of staff or student ambassador will not be eligible.
- Any applicants that have outstanding GCSE or IELTS conditions attached to their offer will not be eligible for the Scheme.
- Any applicants with outstanding queries relating to their fee status will not be eligible for the Scheme.
- Applicants who fulfil the fee assessment requirements and who are assessed as Home fee payers will have their Conditional offer upgraded providing there are no outstanding GCSE/IELTS conditions, and they meet the remaining terms of this offer.
- Applicants who wish to defer their entry to subsequent years are eligible for the Scheme.
The Scheme Details - All University courses where an applicant has received a Conditional offer of study for year 0 or year 1 entry are eligible for this Scheme with one exception. Applicants for the above courses will not be eligible for the scheme. - If an applicant’s offer is upgraded to Unconditional, applicants will be sent a new offer email and, if they applied via UCAS, the Unconditional offer will appear in their UCAS Hub. If the applicant applied via a USW application, it will appear on their USW Applicant Portal.
- This Scheme does not give priority to applicants for USW accommodation. Once an applicant firmly accepts their offer with USW, they should apply for accommodation in the usual way. There is no priority application process for accommodation for Unconditional offer holders but some of our accommodation is likely to be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Applicants are encouraged to apply for accommodation and pay their holding deposit as soon as they firmly accept their offer from USW.
- If an applicant’s achieved grades on entry are lower than their predicted grades, those being the grades which formed the basis of their Conditional offer, USW will honour the Unconditional offer, regardless of the grades achieved.
- Additional Terms and Conditions apply as outlined in an applicant’s offer letter, including but not limited to Admissions Policy Terms and Conditions, Student Terms and Conditions, and Accommodation Terms and Conditions (as applicable).
- If an applicant accepts an Unconditional offer as Firm, they cannot accept an Insurance choice as well. They can only accept both a Firm and Insurance choice if these are Conditional offers (and not Unconditional). Should they accept a Firm and Insurance Conditional offer, if their Firm choice university changes their offer to Unconditional, this means their place is confirmed and they will receive enrolment and induction information in the summer before their course starts.
- The Scheme only applies to the course(s) the applicant has received an offer for and not any other courses. However, should the applicant’s achieved grades be significantly higher than those initially predicted, we may be able to make them an offer for the degree if they were initially offered a course at lower than degree level. They should contact [email protected] once they receive their results to discuss this.
- If an applicant attended the Applicant Experience Day and did not scan or register on the day, their offer will not be upgraded. Should an applicant wish to appeal this decision as they were in fact present at the event, they should contact [email protected] in the first instance.
- Personal information will be held by the University for the purposes of the Scheme and will be stored and used in accordance with the USW privacy policy: Privacy Notices and Use of Personal Information | University of South Wales.
- These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Wales and England, and the University and you agree to use only the courts of England and Wales.
- In the event of any dispute, you acknowledge that the University has strict admissions procedures it must follow, including managing applicable admissions criteria for its courses and therefore the decision of the University is final.
- The University reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions and/or withdraw this Scheme without notice. In the event these terms are amended or withdrawn, all Unconditional Offers prior to the amendments/withdrawal will be honoured.
- Questions regarding this Scheme should be addressed to [email protected].
