USW IT Account Deactivation
When you leave the University of South Wales, your USW IT account will be deactivated.
If you are leaving because you are graduating, your account will be deactivated 120 days after your course end date. If you leave for any other reason, your account may be deactivated sooner, or immediately.
This will affect your ability to access many USW services and may also have consequences involving third-party services. To minimise potential issues, carefully consider your use of your USW IT account in advance of it closing and take any necessary actions while you still have access to your account.
What will I lose access to?
When your USW student account is deactivated, you will lose access to most USW systems and services. See below for further details, and some suggested steps you can take to avoid issues.

Microsoft 365 (previously known as Office 365) is a suite of applications and services developed and supplied by Microsoft Corporation. You have access to many parts of Microsoft 365 as part of your USW IT account.
Microsoft 365 includes apps like Outlook (email and calendar), and OneDrive (file storage) which are listed individually on this page, but also several other apps and services which you may be using.
OneDrive is a cloud storage system, which is part of Microsoft 365, provided as part of you USW IT account.
If you have files here you want to keep, save them somewhere else.
If you use Outlook Calendar to manage your schedule, you should transition to another account or calendar service.
When you lose access to your USW email account:
- You will not be able to send, receive or view old emails associated with the account.
- Any email forwarding you have set up from this account will cease to work.
- Third party services, subscriptions, websites or apps, which you have used your USW email address to sign up to, may become inaccessible, either immediately, or when you need to re-authenticate.
We recommend you take the following steps:
- Forward any emails you want to keep to another email address you have access to, or store their contents in some other place e.g. download and save them to your computer.
- Change the email address you have registered with all services, subscriptions, websites and apps, to an email address you will continue to have long term access to.
If your account has already been closed, you will not be able to use online support, and you will need to contact IT support by telephone or in person.
