USW TEACHER AND ADVISER AWARDS
The winners of the fourth annual University of South Wales Teacher and Adviser Awards have been announced.
Schools and Colleges About UsOn Friday 5 June, we hosted the Awards at our Treforest campus, supported by Reaching Wider.
The accolades were awarded to teachers and advisers from secondary schools and colleges across the UK who demonstrated excellence in three categories in the 2023-24 academic year. Each award winner received £500 towards CPD and/or staff wellbeing initiatives at their school or college. The categories included:
- Outstanding Pastoral and Wellbeing Support
- Supporting Progression to Higher Education
- Inspirational Teacher or Adviser of the Year
Student, Rizik Salhab, who nominated Physics teacher Mr Howells for going “above and beyond” joined us for the celebration.
Rizik said “it was amazing seeing all the inspiring teachers and advisers across the country in one room. I’m proud to have been a part of this effort to recognise the incredible work teachers and advisers do for us, their students. I just wish there were more events like this to celebrate more teachers - they’re all heroes! Thank you for giving us all great memories that we will cherish!”
We were thrilled with the response to the awards, having received over 100 nominations. The judging panel faced a difficult decision in selecting a winner for each category, given the high calibre of submissions. The entries showcased the remarkable individuals across the UK who are deeply committed to helping the next generation realise their full potential. Stay tuned for updates on next year's awards!
