Designed for working professionals, this online leadership course will help you develop the skills needed to be a leader – such as communication, motivation, providing inspiration and guidance, and encouraging employees to rise to a higher level of productivity.
This online Postgraduate Diploma Leadership in Healthcare, run in partnership with Diploma MSc, is more than a management course. Managers are responsible for planning, organising, leading and controlling functions within an organisation. But not all managers are leaders.
This postgraduate qualification will help you to develop a team culture of trust that delivers results; navigate teams through change with tenacity; address challenges innovatively and ethically and make positive decisions with confidence.
As well as those already in healthcare roles, this leadership course is useful for GP practice managers, pharmacy managers, healthcare directorate managers and managers in pharmaceutical companies.
You’ll study entirely online for one calendar year. You’ll study six modules, each of six weeks’ duration.
Leadership in Healthcare
Exploring the complexities of applying leadership theories in ‘real world’ healthcare settings.
Developing Human and Organisational Potential in Healthcare
Equipping you as a leader with the ability to develop and improve services by harnessing the human and organisational potential within healthcare organisations.
Quality, Clinical and Corporate Governance in Healthcare
Applying the theory and practice of Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement to complex healthcare settings.
Career and Team Development in Healthcare Organisations
Examining a variety of team and career development tools and evaluating their role in contributing to organisational development.
Strategy and Innovation for Healthcare Leaders
Developing high level skills in understanding the value of strategy and innovation for leaders in healthcare organisations.
Change Management in Healthcare Organisations
Developing flexible leadership skills and the ability to lead change within complex healthcare organisational structures.
The course will also include the opportunity to work with your peers and tutors to solve one of your real-life leadership challenges. You’ll submit your challenge anonymously and the chosen challenge will form the basis for an online round-table discussion for you and your group to analyse, debate and propose a solution.
Although you’ll be learning entirely online, you will be part of a group with 10 to 15 other students - to share ideas, debate scenarios and develop best practice with.
You’ll have the support of a dedicated team who will help you with any challenges you may face - from help with navigating our online learning platform to advice on what you need to do to pass the course and meet deadlines.
Once you have secured your place on the course, you will be invited to an Online Induction Day Webinar. This will give you the opportunity to participate in study skills workshops on Harvard Referencing, scientific and reflective writings, and levels of evidence in preparation for your studies.
It is not compulsory for you to attend our Induction Day, but it is recommended as it’ll provide you with a sturdy introduction to the course.
Each of the six modules have the same assessment format:
Academic Forum - 50%
Reflective Journal - 10%
Group Activity - 20%
Individual Activity - 20%
