Module Overview
This is more than a management course. Managers are responsible for planning, organising,leading and controlling functions within an organisation. But not all managers are leaders. You’ll study entirely online for one calendar year. You’ll study six modules, each of six weeks’ duration.
Leadership in Healthcare
Throughout this module you will explore the complexities of applying leadership theories in ‘real world’ healthcare settings.
Developing Human and Organisational Potential in Healthcare
This module will equip you as a leader with the ability to develop and improve services by harnessing the human and organisational potential within healthcare organisations.
Quality, Clinical and Corporate Governance in Healthcare
Throughout this module you will apply the theory and practice of Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement to complex healthcare settings.
Career and Team Development in Healthcare Organisations
Throughout this module you will be examining a variety of team and career development tools and evaluating their role in contributing to organisational development.
Strategy and Innovation for Healthcare Leaders
Throughout this module you will be developing high level skills in understanding the value of strategy and innovation for leaders in healthcare organisations.
Change Management in Healthcare Organisations
Throughout this module you will be developing flexible leadership skills and the ability to lead change within complex healthcare organisational structures.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Typical qualification requirements:
- A non-medical degree working in a healthcare role
- A medical degree
- Relevant professional healthcare (e.g. doctor, nurse) qualifications
All applications are assessed on an individual basis so if you don’t have one of the above your prior experience may be taken into account.

English language requirements
International applicants will need to have achieved an overall of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing or equivalent.

Additional Costs
As a student of USW, you’ll have access to lots of free resources to support your study and learning, such as textbooks, publications, online journals, laptops, and plenty of remote-access resources. Whilst in most cases these resources are more than sufficient in supporting you with completing your course, additional costs, both obligatory and optional, may be required or requested for the likes of travel, memberships, experience days, stationery, printing, or equipment.
