Key Responsibilities of External Examiners
External Examiners are essential to:
- Ensuring fairness and consistency in assessment and academic standards.
- Reviewing and commenting on assessment design, student performance, and course alignment with regulations and professional standards.
- Participating in assessment boards and dialogues.
- Providing annual reports and feedback on good practices and areas for enhancement.
External Examiner Roles
There are two main roles:
- Subject External Examiners: Focus on module-level assessments, moderation, and student performance.
- Super Progression and Award External Examiners: Oversee progression and award processes, ensuring compliance with policies and mentoring new Examiners when needed.
