A guide to our AI assistant
Our AI website assistant, Dewi, can help you find general information about our courses, services and support available at the University.
Please read the following information to understand the scope, limitations, and conditions of use.
This guide explains how Dewi works, what it can help with and when you should check information with a member of University staff. Dewi is currently in beta, which means we are still testing and improving the service.
We welcome any feedback you may have about our website and our AI website assistant.
What our AI website assistant can help with
You can ask Dewi general questions about the University, including:
- courses and study options
- applying to the University
- student life
- University services and support
- finding information on our website
- contacting the right team
Dewi is designed to make it quicker and easier to find information. It does not replace advice from University staff.
How does our AI website assistant work
Dewi uses artificial intelligence (AI) to understand your question and provide a response. It can answer general questions and direct you to relevant University webpages and services.
For the best results:
- ensure questions asked are clear with context
- include the main subject you need help with
- reword your question if the first answer is not helpful
- use the links Dewi provides to check the full information
Limitations of responses
AI assistants do not understand information in the same way as people. Dewi can misunderstand a question or provide information that is not always relevant to your individual circumstances.
This does not mean every answer is wrong. However, you should not rely on Dewi alone when making an important decision.
User Responsibility
You are responsible for verifying all information provided by Dewi. Please refer to University of South Wales web pages, policies, or staff for guidance. Dewi should not be used as the sole basis for decisions that may affect your studies, visa status, finances, wellbeing, or personal circumstances.
