The University of South Wales is a popular choice amongst Bahraini students and has been welcoming students from Bahrain to its five campuses for many years.

Popular courses amongst Bahraini students are the MBA (including associated pathway options) and Bachelors and Masters degrees in engineering and computing.

Students from Bahrain have appreciated the scholarships offered by the University and have enjoyed the high standard of living but relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers. The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. For more information visit the international scholarships page.

  • International Academic Scholarship of £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

Foundation Entry Requirements

  • International Foundation Year (Intensive English) is available for those who have passed their Secondary School Certificate / High School Diploma / School Leaving Certificate / Year 12 certificate with an overall score of 60% with a UKVI IELTS 5.0 overall before progressing to their Bachelor degree.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements


English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.


Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have a 2 year Diploma from a recognised institution can be accepted onto the first year of a degree programme
  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied


Undergraduate Advanced Entry

  • Applicants who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) and studied for a duration of 3-4 years will be considered for advanced entry of an undergraduate programme

Postgraduate Entry Requirements


English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • 4 year degree with a 2nd class and above (50% or a GPA of 2 or above on the scale of 4, 4 being the highest)
  • For admission on to an LLM, you will need a 4 year LLB degree with a 2nd class or above
  • 3 year Honours degree with a 1st Class or 2nd Class will be considered for direct entry onto a Masters course if they have additional work experience
