Everything you need to know
As a self-funding international student from Bahrain, you are eligible for a scholarship of:
- £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
- £2,000 per year for postgraduate students
This applies to courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year one of a Bachelor's degree.
Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.
- Students who have a two-year Diploma from a recognised institution can be accepted onto the first year of a degree programme.
- Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied.
- Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied.
Undergraduate Advanced Entry
Applicants who hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) and studied for a duration of three to four years will be considered for advanced entry onto an undergraduate programme.
English Language Requirements
Proficiency in English is essential for study at the University of South Wales. The university recognises the following English Language qualifications:
- GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
- IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)
Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
Don’t worry if you do not meet English language requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.
- A four-year degree with a second-class and above (50% or a GPA of two or above on a scale of four, four being the highest).
- For admission onto an LLM, you will need a four-year LLB degree with a second-class or above.
- A three-year Honours degree with a first-class or second-class will be considered for direct entry onto a Master's course if they have additional work experience.
