Everything you need to know
As a self-funding international student from Botswana, you are eligible for a scholarship of:
- £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
- £2,500 per year for postgraduate students
This applies to courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year one of a Bachelor's degree.
English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications:
- BGCSE English at grade C or above
- GCSE/A Level English Language grade C or above
- IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.
Academic Qualifications
Holders of a Foundation qualification will be considered for direct entry to Bachelor's degree courses.
Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A-Levels obtained locally, will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor Degree courses. Please check our course pages for IB and A-Level entry requirements.
Applicants who have a three-year diploma equivalent to a HND can in some cases be considered for seconnd or third-year entry.

English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:
- BGCSE English at grade C or above
- GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
- IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications
- Holders of an Honours degree will be considered for postgraduate Master's degree courses.
- Applicants with a Master's degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
