Study with a scholarship of up to £2,500 in a safe and welcoming living environment, surrounded by a diverse community of international students from every corner of the world.


We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. You’ll be surrounded by the best of South Wales’ cities, coast and countryside, and we’re only 2 hours from London via train. Most of our 500 + courses are recognised or accredited by professional organisations and are all taught with employability in mind. That’s why 96% of USW graduates are in Employment and/or Further Study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2021/22).


Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Brazil, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 per year for postgraduate students

This applies to courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Holders of the Certificado de Conclusao de 2° Grau, Diploma de Tecnico de Nivel Medio and Concurso Vestibular may be considered for entry to a Foundation Year.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants with a recognised Foundation qualification will be considered for direct entry to Bachelor's degree courses.
  • Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum total of 24 points, or A-Levels obtained locally, will be considered for direct admission to Bachelor's Degree courses.
  • Applicants currently studying the Bacharel or Licenciado will be considered for advanced entry to a relevant degree course.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component.

Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • Holders of the Bacharel or Licenciado will be considered for postgraduate Master's degree courses.
  • Applicants with a Master's degree (Mestrado) will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies
