Study with a scholarship of up to £2,500 in a safe and welcoming living environment, surrounded by a diverse community of international students from every corner of the world.


We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. You’ll be surrounded by the best of South Wales’ cities, coast and countryside, and we’re only 2 hours from London via train. Most of our 500 + courses are recognised or accredited by professional organisations and are all taught with employability in mind. That’s why 95% of graduates are in work or further study within six months of graduation (DLHE, 2018).


Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Chile, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 per year for postgraduate students

This applies to courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

  • Foundation Years are available to applicants who hold the Licencia de Educación / Enseñanza Media before progressing to their Bachelor's degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have completed a foundation year or holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with higher grades of between 655 - 445 (this is equivalent to 112-80 UCAS tariff points) or A-levels obtained in Chile will be considered for direct admission to first-degree programmes.

Check your selected course page for detailed entry requirements. Students who do not meet the entry requirement will be considered for a Foundation year.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C or above
  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • Holders of the Licenciado/Titulo will be considered for postgraduate Master's degree courses.
  • Applicants with a Master's degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
