Everything you need to know
As a self-funding international student from China, you are eligible for a scholarship of:
- £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
- £2,000 per year for postgraduate students
This applies to courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Proficiency in the English language is essential for courses at degree level or above. The University recognises a range of English language qualifications.
Don’t worry if you do not meet the requirements. We run several English language courses to prepare you for your studies. Look at our Centre for International English for more information.
- Students who have completed Secondary High School studies will be accepted by the University onto year one of a USW Bachelor's degree
- Those who have completed three-year Secondary High School studies and attained the Chinese University Entrance Examination (Gaokao)
- Holders of the High School Graduation Certificate with an average of 60% or above
- Holders of the High School Graduation Certificate with an average of 75% or above in Huikao
- Holders of a Graduation Certificate from a Senior Technical College or Vocational School with 75% or above (Zhongzhuan)
- Students who have successfully completed the first year of a Bachelor's degree in China
- Holders of a Bachelor's degree from a recognized Chinese university will be considered for postgraduate taught degree courses.
- Applicants with a Master's degree from a recognised Chinese university will be considered for PhD studies
