We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Guyana, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have completed the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) / CXC Associate Degree will be considered for year 1 of a Bachelor degree.
  • Students who have completed a foundation year or holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with higher grades of between 655 - 445 (this is equivalent to 112-80 UCAS tariff points) or A-levels obtained in Guyana will be considered for year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  •  IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. 

Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • Students holding the equivalent to a second class Bachelor’s degree will be considered for postgraduate Masters degree courses.
  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
