Study with a scholarship of up to £2,000 in a safe and welcoming living environment, surrounded by a diverse community of international students.


We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Iraq, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,000 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications 

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have completed a Diploma of Technician / Technical Diploma in a relevant subject can be considered for year 1 entry of an undergraduate degree

Undergraduate Advanced Entry

  • HND or Higher Diploma holders can be considered on an individual basis for advanced entry onto a relevant programme

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree / Licence of 4 years with a score of 60% - 69% (fair) and above will be considered will be considered for admission to a relevant postgraduate programme of study.
  • Applicants with other relevant qualifications or work experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
