Everything you need to know
As a self-funding international student from Kazakhstan, you are eligible for a scholarship of:
- £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
- £2,500 per year for postgraduate students
This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.
English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:
- GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
- Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component.
Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.
Academic Qualifications
- Applicants who have completed the Diploma of Completed Specialised Secondary Education can be offered direct entry to the 1st year of a degree programme.
- Applicants who have successfully completed 1 year of an Undergraduate degree in Kazakhstan may be considered for direct undergraduate degree entry.
- Advanced entry to year 2 on to certain degree programmes is possible if you have completed two years of a relevant degree in Kazakhstan.
- Advanced entry to year 3 on to certain degree programmes is possible if you have completed three years of a relevant degree in Kazakhstan.

- Successful completion of Specialist Diploma with a ‘’good/satisfactory’’ grade
- Successful completion of Magister (Masters) programme
- Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
