Welcome

The University of South Wales is a popular choice amongst International students and we have been welcoming students from Kazakhstan to our three campuses for many years.

The University of South Wales offers generous scholarships to self-funded students who also enjoy the high standard but relatively low cost of living that South Wales offers. Students appreciate the friendly, safe and welcoming environment of the university and benefit hugely from the location as the campuses are surrounded by breathtaking scenery and impressive historical landscapes. There are also excellent transport links between campuses and to all major cities in the UK.

The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. For more information visit the international scholarships page.

  • International Academic Scholarship of £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

Foundation Entry Requirements

  • International Foundation Year (Intensive English) is available for those students who have passed the Diploma of Completed Secondary/Vocational Education and have an IELTS 5.0 before progressing to their Bachelor degree.
  • Applicants will also be considered if they have completed the Completed Secondary Education (Grades 10 and 11).
  • Holders of the Diploma of Completed Vocational-Technical Education will also be considered.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.


Undergraduate Entry Requirements

  • Applicants who have completed the Diploma of Completed Specialised Secondary Education can be offered direct entry to the 1st year of a degree programme.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed 1 year of an Undergraduate degree in Kazakhstan may be considered for direct undergraduate degree entry.
  • Advanced entry to year 2 on to certain degree programmes is possible if you have completed two years of a relevant degree in Kazakhstan.
  • Advanced entry to year 3 on to certain degree programmes is possible if you have completed three years of a relevant degree in Kazakhstan.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of Bakalavr with a ‘’good/satisfactory’’ grade
  • Successful completion of Specialist Diploma with a ‘’good/satisfactory’’ grade
  • Successful completion of Magister (Masters) programme
  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.


English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
