We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. You’ll be surrounded by the best of South Wales’ cities, coast and countryside, and we’re only 2 hours from London via train. Most of our 500 + courses are recognised or accredited by professional organisations and are all taught with employability in mind. That’s why 96% of USW graduates are in Employment and/or Further Study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2021/22).


Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Kenya, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English language qualifications: 

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • KCSE English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. 

Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Applicants who have good grades at KCSE (B+ average) may apply for entry to appropriate undergraduate programmes on an individual basis
  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for degree level entry- the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for degree level entry- the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have completed the Brookhouse Foundation with overall average of 50% + can be considered for entry to a relevant undergraduate programme
  • Applicants who hold a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma/ABE/EdExcel HND will be considered on case by case basis for 2nd, 3rd or IPG programmes
