We have three vibrant campuses around the capital city of Wales; Cardiff. Here, you can enjoy a high standard of living at a low cost. You’ll be surrounded by the best of South Wales’ cities, coast and countryside, and we’re only 2 hours from London via train. Most of our 500 + courses are recognised or accredited by professional organisations and are all taught with employability in mind. That’s why 96% of USW graduates are in Employment and/or Further Study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2021/22).


Everything you need to know

As a self-funding international student from Kuwait, you are eligible for a scholarship of:

  • £1,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,000 per year for postgraduate students 

This applies for courses starting in September 2024 and February 2025. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application.

Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for undergraduate study. The University of South Wales also recognises the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or aboveIELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. 

Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have completed a 2 year Diploma / Certificate from a recognised PAEET institute (as opposed to a college) can be considered for the first year of a degree programme.
  • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
  • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied

Undergraduate Advanced Entry

  • Applicants with a higher National Diploma (HND) or a higher Degree can be considered for advanced entry onto a relevant undergraduate degree programme or a top-up award.
  • Applicants with a 2 year Diploma / Certificate from a recognised PAEET College (as opposed to an institute) can be considered for year 2 entry onto a relevant undergraduate programme.

  • Students who have completed a 4 year Bachelor degree with a minimum 2nd class honours (50% / a GPA 2.0 or above on the scale of 4 with 4 being the highest / Good / C grade) will be considered for admission onto a relevant postgraduate programme of study.
  • Applicants with other relevant qualifications or work experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
