Foundation Entry Requirements
- Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.
- Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements
English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:
- GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
- IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)
- We are also accepting alternative English tests for 2020 entry
Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.
Academic Qualifications
- Applicants who have completed the Diplôme de Technicien, Diplome de Technicien Spécialisé or the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur will be considered for year 1 entry of a Bachelor degree
- Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
- Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
Undergraduate Advanced Entry
Applicants who have one the following may be considered for 2nd or 3rd year entry on a case-by-case basis depending on the course in question and the relevance of the modules studied.
- Diplôme d'études Universitaires de Technologie
- Certificat Universitaire d'études Littéraires
- Certificat Universitaire d'études Scientifiques
- Diplôme d'études Universitaires Générales

Postgraduate Entry Requirements
English Qualifications
Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:
- GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
- Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.
- We are also accepting alternative English tests for 2020 entry

Applicants with other qualifications or work experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
