The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. 

Courses starting in February 2020

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • £1,500 for MBA students

Courses starting in September 2020

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 for postgraduate students
  • £2,500 for MBA students

Foundation Entry Requirements

  • International Foundation Year (Intensive English) is available for those students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate in year 12 with a grade of 45%-60% and have an IELTS 5.0 before progressing to their Bachelor degree.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English Language grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language courses.


Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate in year 12 with a grade of 60% or above can be considered for direct entry onto an Undergraduate Degree.
  • Students who have studied 2 years of a Bachelor Degree in Nepal may be accepted on to year 2 of an Undergraduate Degree programme provided they have studied a relevant course.
  • Students studying A Levels or the International Baccalaureate will be accepted subject to meeting the University’s standard entry requirements as specified for each course.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for Postgraduate study. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

  • GCSE/O Level English at grade C or above
  • Postgraduate Study: IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in each component. Please note that some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University’s standard requirements. Please see the course page for further information.

Academic Qualifications

  • A first division Bachelors degree from a recognised university.
  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
