The University offers the following scholarships for self-funding international students. You will be automatically considered for one of these awards when we receive your application. 

Courses starting in September 2020

  • £2,500 per year for undergraduate students
  • £2,500 for postgraduate students

Foundation Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Foundation Years are available to students who don't meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.
  • Students who have a good level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) will be considered for our Faculty Foundation Years.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate in year 12 from CBSE (Central Board of School Education), HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate), NEB (National Education Board) or HSEB (Higher Secondary Education Board of Nepal) with a grade of 65% or above will be considered for direct entry onto an Undergraduate Degree.
  • Schooling certificate must be from Kathmandu - except for applications to study at Dubai Campus where qualifications from outside of Kathmandu are also considered
  • Applicants who study the Edexcel or Cambridge A Level curriculum will follow the normal UCAS tariff.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • A first division Bachelor degree from a recognised university (65% or above/CGPA 2.6/4.0).
  • Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.

English Qualifications

Proficiency in English is essential for study at the University. The University of South Wales recognises the following English Language qualifications:

For Foundation and Undergraduate study:

  • IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each band
For Postgraduate study:
  • 12th Standard from Nepal in English with at least 65% plus Medium of Instruction’ letter showing that the applicant has studied their 12th standard (or bachelor degree) in the medium of English. 
  • IELTS 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each band or an equivalent qualification (some courses require higher IELTS – please refer to relevant course page on website)
  • We are also accepting alternative English tests for 2020 entry
