Welcome

Wales offers students a high standard of living but with a relatively low cost of living. Students also benefit from the reduced fees that the Welsh Government offers to student coming from the EU.

South Wales is home to a large Polish community and there are many Polish shops in and around Cardiff where you can find all your home comforts. Our students enjoy the community feel of each of our campuses and the opportunity to experience UK life whilst studying in a safe, secure and supportive environment.

We have been welcoming students from Poland to the University for some years and have developed excellent support services for you, including: an airport pick up, academic support services, career guidance and free in-sessional English courses.

Fees and scholarships

Our Undergraduate and Postgraduate EU Scholarship scheme offers a scholarship on the international tuition fees for EU students joining us in academic year 2022/2023. The scholarship awarded will ensure that the tuition fees paid do not exceed the fee currently paid by UK students.

You will be considered for a scholarship automatically when we receive your application to study. You do not need to make a separate scholarship application. You will receive confirmation of a scholarship with your offer letter and it applies to all years of study.

EU students who graduate from USW in 2022 with an undergraduate degree and are no longer eligible for home fees but could be eligible for a Master’s Progression Fee Discount of £6,000.

Entry requirements

Foundation Entry Requirements

Foundation Years are available to students who do not meet the academic requirements for entry directly onto year 1 of a Bachelor degree.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications

At least 55% in two subjects at extended level in the new Matura can be considered for direct entry to Year One of Bachelor programmes
If a specific subject is required for entry to a course, applicants will be required to achieve at least 60% in that subject at extended level (the subject can be one of the two extended level subjects, which we are taking into account)
If a specific subject is required for entry to a course and that subject is only being taken at standard level a grade of at least 85% is required.
Certain programmes, such as LLB Law or International Wildlife Biology, have different entry requirements. For further information please contact us.

English Qualifications

IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each band)
If students achieve 70% or above in their English language Matura exam at extended level (average of oral and written exam results) this can be accepted as equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (the English exam can be counted as one of the two required extended level subjects). At standard level, a grade of at least 95% is required.
